The service
Backwoods AI ("we") provides weather forecasts, wind, sun and shooting-light times, and short answers to questions by SMS text message, for the number you register at purchase. A pass covers a set period and a set number of texts, shown at checkout and by texting STATUS.
SMS program
- Program: Backwoods AI replies to commands you text, and sends account messages (welcome, setup reminders, pass notices).
- Opt-in: by entering your mobile number at checkout and buying a pass.
- Frequency: varies; replies are sent only in response to your texts, plus a few account messages per pass.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply. Satellite messaging may carry charges from your carrier or device plan.
- Opt out: reply STOP at any time. Reply START to resume.
- Help: reply HELP, or email help@backwoods.example.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Not a safety service
Forecasts come from the National Weather Service and may be wrong or out of date. Answers are generated automatically and may be wrong. Satellite and cellular delivery can be delayed or fail. Do not rely on Backwoods AI for emergencies, navigation, avalanche safety or legal decisions. Hunting regulations, legal shooting hours and season dates are your responsibility; check the current Utah DWR guidebook. In an emergency, use your device's SOS or call 911.
Refunds
If the TEST text doesn't work with your phone before your pass starts, we'll refund you in full. Contact us for anything else.
Acceptable use
Don't use the service to send spam, run automated loops, or resell access. We may rate-limit or suspend numbers that do.
Liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you paid for your pass.
